Terms of Sale and Use
Last updated October 26, 2026
Who you're buying from
Pumpkin Lights is made by Boyucheng Zhang, an independent developer ("we", "us"), and you buy it under these terms. You can reach us at hi@boyucheng.me.
Accepting these terms
By buying, downloading or using Pumpkin Lights you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Payments
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Paddle's own buyer terms apply to the purchase, including payment and taxes: paddle.com/legal/checkout-buyer-terms.
What you get
A one-time purchase gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Pumpkin Lights on Macs that you own or control, including its updates. There is no subscription and nothing renews. Every price tier gets the same app and the same licence.
Ownership
Pumpkin Lights, its artwork and its code belong to Boyucheng Zhang. Your purchase is a licence to use the app, not a sale of the app itself.
What you may not do
Don't redistribute, resell or share the app, its download or your licence key; don't try to get around the licence check; and don't remove its notices. Don't use the app for anything unlawful, fraudulent or that infringes anyone's rights, or to interfere with the security of any system. Reverse engineering is not permitted except where the law allows it regardless of this restriction.
The app's actions
Pumpkin Lights can change system settings you choose (such as Dark Mode), open apps, and run Shortcuts or shell commands that you configure. You are responsible for the actions and commands you set up.
No warranty
The app is provided “as is”. We work hard on it, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it.
Ending the licence
If you seriously or repeatedly break these terms — for example by sharing your licence key publicly — or if the purchase is refunded or charged back, we may end your licence and stop your key from working in future versions.
Refunds
Refunds are available in the cases described in the Refund Policy.
Changes
We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version. Changes don't affect purchases already made.
